◇  What extension methods do you offer?

Keratin  extensions are a single strand method, using a heating tool, where strands of extension hair are bonded to your natural hair with a keratin protein bond. The keratin bond is very flexible and lightweight and looks extremely natural. Installation is $3 per strand – includes minimal face framing layers, styling, and finish. I recommend that after 10-12 weeks, depending on how fast your hair grows, these be removed.

Microlink  is a single strand method that uses tiny silicone lined copper tubes in which clusters of your natural hair and extension hair are clamped together. These are very lightweight, natural looking, and no heat or glue is used. Installation is $3 per strand – includes minimal face framing layers, styling, and finish. I recommend that after 6-8 weeks, depending on how fast your hair grows, these be touched up. They should be removed after 8-10 weeks.

Onestep  method is a fast track method where thin lightweight tracks of hair are attached with micro link beads that lay flat along the scalp. These are very natural looking and they give great fullness to fine and thin hair. Installation is $12 per track – includes minimal face framing layers, styling, and finish. I recommend that these be touched up every 4-5 weeks, depending on how fast your hair grows.

Shrink Links (Shrinkies)  is a single strand method that uses tiny keratin lined, clear, matte plastic tubes in which clusters of the client's natural hair and pre-bonded extension hair are bonded together. The Shrink Link bond is very flexible and lightweight and looks extremely natural. Installation is $3 per strand – includes minimal face framing layers, styling, and finish. It is recommended that after 8-10 weeks, depending on how fast the natural hair grows, these be removed. The pre-bonded hair may be reused with new Shrink Link tubes.

◇  What extension method is right for me?

Many factors must be considered when trying to answer this critical question. Therefore, I highly recommend a professional consultation either with myself or The Hair Shop staff. Based upon the condition of your natural hair, the length, the thickness, your lifestyle, and the amount of maintenance you’re willing to commit to will determine the best option for you. Every client is unique and your hair history is unique to you…hormonal (thinning hair), color treated, chemically treated, or even virgin hair all factor in to answering this question.

◇  Do you sell extension hair?

No.

◇  Where do I buy extension hair?

I refer all of my extension clients to The Hair Shop, they have multiple locations throughout the greater Los Angeles area. They offer a wide variety of colors, qualities, textures, lengths and are the only shop that carries hair for all 3 installation methods that I offer. You will also be able to walk out with your new extension hair the same day.

The Hair Shop  staff is professional, friendly and knowledgeable and will assist you in making the best decisions based on your hair type, budget, and overall look you hope to achieve. They will help you color match, give you an estimate on how much hair you will need, tell you about the different qualities of hair and methods of installation available. You will be eligible for my 15% professional discount if an installation appointment is scheduled.

I am available for In-Person Consultations, the fee for which is $60 per consultation. Consultation fee must be paid before consultation time. I will assist you with all of the above decisions from a stylist’s perspective. In-Person Consultations will be held at their Hollywood location, located at: 1285 N Highland Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90038. You will be eligible for my 20% professional discount, if an installation appointment is scheduled.

However, please feel free to purchase your hair from any shop of your choice.

◇  How much extension hair do I need to buy?

The number of strands needed for single strand methods depends on the length and thickness of the client’s natural hair and the length and thickness of the end result desired. General guidelines to consider, remembering that every client is unique, are as follows:

  1. 100-120 strands of extension hair to add volume to existing long hair.
  2. 150-180 strands of extension hair to add length and volume to short hair.
  3. 180-220 strands of extension hair to add "over the top" volume and add length or for very short hair.
I can best answer this question during the In-Person Consultation or a Hair Shop staff member can assist you.

◇  How much does extension hair cost?

The average cost of hair for a full head in the most popular length, 18", is usually $220-$280 from The Hair Shop. Price varies depending on the length, quality of the hair you select, and method desired.

◇  What costs/fees can I expect to pay?

  1. The cost of the extension hair – paid directly to the shop of your choice.
  2. The cost of the installation = see What extension methods do you offer?
  3. The cost of cutting/blending the extension hair = $95

◇  Will extensions damage my natural hair?

Extensions must be cared for properly with regular maintenance, gentle, delicate brushing; very little or no use of heat styling; and, use of salon quality hair products. Following these recommendations will help ensure very minimal damage to your natural hair.

◇  Can I still color my hair with extensions in?

The Hair Shop recommends that you not color their extension hair or to get any hair color on the bonds. If you must color your hair while extensions are installed it is recommended to avoid placing hair color where bonds are applied and to use deposit only color on the extension hair with the understanding that it is possible that hair color might cause the extension hair to become dry. It is also recommended to have all hair color done to your natural hair before color matching and choosing your extensions.
